Women are preparing for space jobs that may not even exist yet. An annual event called AeroWomen took place in Yeovil, Somerset. The event was run by the helicopter company Leonardo. It helps people find their way into the aerospace industry. She works for the European Space Agency and the UK Space Agency.
Christian noted that she never saw anyone like her in the field when she was growing up. She said, 'It's important to see the breadth of career opportunities so you don't feel locked into something, and find what sparks your passion.' She also helps develop exercise equipment for space flight. She advised girls to stay curiouscurious/ˈkjʊəriəs/L2好奇的wanting to learn or know more about something and keep questioning. Events like AeroWomen help show the wide range of opportunities.
Lisa Haskell began her career as an engineer at Leonardo's Yeovil site. She now works as an Earth observation specialist for the company's space division. She said the industry has changed a lot. When she first started, there were only two women in her office of twenty people. Now there are many more women and young people coming up through the industry. This event helps the next generation think about space careers and see that they can do it. She said the industry is now more welcoming to women.
