Khalib is a first grader from Philadelphia, and he loves birds and nature. He wants to be a bird scientistscientist/ˈsaɪəntɪst/L1科学家a person who studies science and learns about the world, so he meets Keith Russell, a real bird scientist. They go for a walk on a nature trailnature trail/ˈneɪtʃər treɪl/L1自然小径a path in nature where you can walk and see plants and animals in the city to look for birds. Khalib wears a bright blue jacket and uses binocularsbinoculars/bɪˈnɒkjʊləz/L1双筒望远镜a tool that helps you see far away things clearly.
Khalib asks Keith how he learned to love birds. Keith says he loved birds when he was a boy, and his parents helped him. Now Keith helps birds, and he puts stickersstickers/ˈstɪkəz/L1贴纸small pieces of paper with glue on the back that you can stick on things on windows. This stops birds from flying into the glass and getting hurt. Khalib thinks this is a very good way to help the birds. "Birds are really cool, and I care for the Earth," Khalib says.
